New Jersey requires aspiring salespeople to complete a 75-hour prelicensure course at a licensed real estate school before taking the state examination.
The curriculum covers license law, forms of ownership, contracts, landlord and tenant topics, appraisals, listings, fair housing, ethics, mortgages, agency, brokerage, deeds and closing of title.
After completing the course, pass the school and New Jersey license examinations, complete the required background process and apply through a sponsoring employing broker.
